Antonio RieraDr. Antonio Riera is BCG’s global leader for Exchanges and Securities Services and prior Global Leader of Transaction Banking. He has worked for over 25 years in financial services, in line and advisory roles, for asset managers, universal banks, broker/dealers, and other institutional investors. Antonio co-led BCG’s Global Asset Management benchmarking activities. He has broad international experience and frequently works with Ministers of Finance and other senior government officials and regulators on financial center strategies and market development policy issues.
Antonio co-led projects with Global Private Banks around cost to serve, product rationalization, pricing and rationalization of delivery platforms. He also led the market entry strategy of Asset Managers in new markets and the rationalization and re-architecture of the global-trade (order-routing, position update) and post-trade (clearing, custody, and reporting) services for a leading Swiss private bank globally. Antonio has led the strategy development, alliance management and privatization efforts of many G7, EU, Asian, Eastern European and Latin American capital markets and exchanges.
Antonio co-led BCG’s Global Asset Management activities. His current work involves Transforming Banks into Process-Centric structure and resulted in his recent publication – Shared Services Integrating OPS and IT. He is a frequent speaker at financial services and outsourcing conferences.
Dr. Riera was a Charter Member of the Group of 30’s International Working Committee that developed the global standards for clearance, and settlement of international securities. He also acted as co-chair of the Group of 30’s US Payment Committee, which drove the implementation of Same Day Funds in the US. He was Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Cedel Bank and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Liberty, a wholly owned electronic order routing subsidiary. Antonio spent 15 years Citibank, most recently as Managing Director responsible for Securities Services in Emerging Markets.
