MBA 590 Capstone Project
Course Guidelines
Course Overview. The purpose of the Capstone Project is to provide an opportunity for students to integrate knowledge gained throughout their MBA program through a project done in concert with a local company or organization. The project will focus on a key business issue, to be researched and analyzed by the student(s) with a recommended solution presented in a format appropriate for presentation to top management of the company or organization.
Nature of projects. It is important that the nature of the projects be broadly integrative. This is not an assignment specific to an individual class. Rather, the objective is to integrate concepts developed throughout the program and demonstrate how they can be applied to real business issues.
This is a graded assignment. It is not pass/fail.
Project output. The product of the Capstone Project is a major report in good scholarly form with sound technical analysis, references, and bibliography. The paper must have the following components:
The typical project will integrate three or four major topic areas, one of which must be strategic management. Beyond this, students might explore some combination of marketing, operations, finance, etc.
