Dean's Note
Dear Robins School Community,
The past few months have been a very exciting and productive time for the Robins School of Business. The Robins School is entering 2008 with a generous gift from Paul and Anne-Marie Flinn Queally that will allow us to begin construction on the new building expansion, a project we have been working on for several years. The new expansion, to be named Queally Hall, will house new innovative programs and much needed space for our students, faculty and staff. I invite you to read more about this in our article about the Queally’s gift.
I am also delighted to announce that BusinessWeek ranked our MBA program #14 in their inaugural ranking of the nation’s best part-time MBA programs. We were the only program in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC to make the list. We are proud to now be nationally ranked at both the MBA and undergraduate levels.
This past fall, I also had the great fortune of working with one of the world’s foremost leaders, Vicente Fox, the former president of Mexico. President Fox spoke at the Richmond Forum on November 3rd and I was invited to be the moderator for the question and answer portion of the program. The insightful talk from President Fox reiterated for me the fact that globalization, innovation and technology continue to be at the forefront of business and economic development.
On a personal note, I am pleased to announce that I have recently published a book, Creating Global Business Leaders: Business Education at the Center of Innovation, Technology, and Globalization, published by Aspatore Books. In this book, I challenge the reader to think about the future of this ever-changing global environment. It is intended for academia as well as business leaders and executives and describes the challenges that corporate America faces, as well as some of the opportunities that can be explored.
As always, I welcome your involvement with the Robins School. For more information, please contact us at (804) 289-8550 or RobinsSchool@richmond.edu
Best regards,

Jorge Haddock
