American Marketing Association
The University of Richmond's student chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) is an active member of the American Marketing Association. The AMA hosts several events and activities throughout the school year to educate Robins School of Business marketing students. Students learn about careers in marketing, how to use their marketing degree, and how to go about finding a job in the marketing field.
Students in AMA have the opportunity to network with marketing professionals and take trips to area marketing firms. The group also hosts a panel of marketing professionals from the Richmond area to come to the business school to talk with the members of the AMA. The panelists come from advertising, event planning, public relations and other marketing areas.
In addition, students have the opportunity to network with the Richmond Professional Chapter of the American Marketing Association. Each month at a networking luncheon, students can meet and network with marketing professionals from Richmond and hear from a speaker in the marketing field.
A major benefit of membership is access to the AMA website, where students have access to a job bank of marketing firms who need employees and can obtain help on resume and cover letter writing.
The faculty advisors are Dr. Nancy Ridgway and Mr. Lit Maxwell. The president is Matthew Lakin. Membership dues are $39 and include access to AMA's website and a subscription to Marketing News, a periodical put out by the American Marketing Association. Applications are available from Dr. Nancy Ridgway or Matthew Lakin. The Robins School strongly recommends that all those who concentrate in marketing become active members.
