CFA Virginia Investment Research Challenge

The Center for Active Business Education selects four students each year to participate in the CFA Virginia Investment Research Challenge (CFA Challenge).  The CFA Challenge is a team competition that includes colleges from around the state of Virginia.  The competition includes an 8-10 page research report and presentation on a given company.  The team will coordinate with a finance faculty member throughout the spring semester to compete in the competition.

The timeline for the CFA Challenge is the following:

• December – the team is selected and the given company announced
• January – team submits questions for the given company
• February – company presentation
• March – final reports due to graders
• April – presentation and competition

To be considered for the CFA Challenge, you must take the following courses your senior year:

• FIN 467 Portfolio Management and Analysis
• FIN 461 Cases and Financial Modeling (preferably fall of senior year or earlier)
